RESEARCH

Auxetics are structures or materials that have a negative Poisson's ratio. When stretched, they become thicker perpendicular to the applied force. This occurs due to their particular internal structure and the way this deforms when the sample is uniaxially loaded.

Auxetic technology is now a key part of the carbon fiber layup construction of Head's racquets. Because of its nature, when an auxetic material receives any sort of impact, it tends to compress instead of deforming. It's purpose is to provide a more stable tennis experience.
